Translation: Another giveaway! This time I'll be giving away an ARC of Girl Parts, by John. M. Cusick. Girl Parts is YA (14 and up) and will be released in August, 2010.

Back Cover:
David and Charlie are opposites. David has a million friends, online and off. Charlie is a soulful outsider, off the grid completely. But neither feels close to anybody. When David’s parents present him with a hot Companion bot designed to encourage healthy bonds and treat his “dissociative disorder,” he can’t get enough of luscious redheaded Rose — and he can’t get it soon. Companions come with strict intimacy protocols, and whenever he tries anything, David gets an electric shock. Parted from the boy she was built to love, Rose turns to Charlie, who finds he can open up, knowing Rose isn’t real. With Charlie’s help, the ideal “companion” is about to become her own best friend. In a stunning and hilarious debut, John Cusick takes rollicking aim at internet culture and our craving for meaningful connection in an uber-connected world.

AND COULD SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT 'RATHER LOVELY' IS??

When we can find friends within a number of clicks and real life isn't as real as it used to be, then yes, we are becoming disassociated.

Disassociated... I think we're heading that way, but I think some people are there. For now, I think it's a case by case basis. Myself, and many of my friends (especially us pagans) are very in tune with nature, and I think that helps us stay in tune with the world. I think people who are so busy that they don't notice the things around them, have become disassociated with the world.

I think that the internet broadens our horizons not make us disassociated.

The disassociated world is right around the corner. How can it/we not be? It's sad but true. We're all just a few key strokes away really.

Thanks,

With the advancement of technology, our entire society is bound to become disassociated. We no longer rely on human to human contact now everything is dealt with through computers and automated voice over the phone. Are we ready for it? Hmm... that could go either way. We already are even something as simple as going to the grocery store, now it's all "self-checkout" where you don't even have to speak with another person if you choose not to. But I don't know if everyone is ready to give in to the loss of even the simplest human contact, I know I'm not!
